Good afternoon from Shanghai, China! Angela and I are still working on getting home Internet so blogging is not so easy as we must use our phones. Last night we were supposed to go out with some staff, but were hit with a storm of typhoon like proportion. We decided to still go out with a new friend that lives in our apartment complex. There must have been a foot of water running in the street. We went to a “sport bar” called bocu bocu. After dinner we tried to get a cab to do some shopping but we failed miserably, so everyone was instead asleep by 8:00pm.
This morning I continued my sad trend of waking up at around 3:00 AM. This morning was completely dedicated to getting our health screening. This is done a little differently than in the states. We were forced to wear a robe and were filed from room to room. We started with some basic checks and moved on to an ultrasound, chest X-ray, blood drawn, hooked up to an EKG and our eyesight checked. There are around 20 new teachers in our group but they were very efficient about sending us all through. After lunch we have classroom time and then a fancy dinner tonight.
I am not sure that you receive my comments, but it is worth a try. So pleased that all is so nice for both of you, but also a bit uneasy. They are Wooing you and you will want to sign up for another two years as it is so wonderful. So, plan to spend your time with the two families when you are home, okay?
This sounds almost too good to be true–happy for both! Love you,G. Audrey
